Digg is preparing to make a comeback with a mobile app and an updated design based on user feedback
Digg is developing a new version of its popular website, featuring a mobile app for the first time, based on feedback from the closed “Barrier Breakers” community of early users.
A mobile app with integrated features
Digg is developing iOS and Android apps in parallel, ensuring that all features are available on both platforms. The app includes profiles that display biographies, statistics, posts, and achievements, as well as topic-based communities focused on specific subjects that highlight prominent contributors.
The app also includes leaderboards that highlight the best posts and comments each day; the company has toned down the emphasis on this feature in the desktop version in response to user feedback regarding the risk of an overly gamified approach.
Desktop Design Updates
Digg continues to roll out updated designs for its desktop version, focusing on reviving the site’s classic feel with a modern twist. Users have praised the new design, which reminds them of “the old Digg but updated,” with the addition of dark mode and a compact view.
The company plans to launch an early beta via TestFlight for iOS users soon to gather more detailed feedback from the community before the official launch.
This development reflects Digg’s attempt to regain its former status as a leading platform for discovering and sharing online content.
